I met Dan while he was teaching at the CanFit Conference in Toronto this year (2011). I expressed my interest in taking courses from the C.H.E.K Institute but my real interest was in getting to the root cause of my back pain, which has plagued me for over 27 years. I first blew out a disk at the age of nineteen and joined the world of pain. I endured it for years while visiting various physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, physicians and pain management specialists seeking relief. More recently, I have suffered on an almost daily basis with pain from my SI joint. I am 47 years old now and I feel like I have paid my dues!
While in Toronto, I took Dan's contact info and on my return to Barbados, where I was born and live, I made arrangements to fly to Florida and visit Dan for an assessment and corrective program.
The experience was inspirational. In just minutes, he was able to determine that my problems stemmed from issues with my neck. He immediately took the necessary steps to correct the imbalance and there have been significant benefits already. He also prescribed a corrective exercise program along with a nutrition plan, both of which are producing great results already. My back hasn't felt like this since I was a teenager! I feel inspired and motivated to get well and most of all, I feel there is hope.

For a variety of reasons, Dan Hellman is an extraordinary professional. He creates specialized training packages for each of his clients, depending on their goals, their overall health and strength, and their motivation. He regularly updates his knowledge and expertise by attending seminars and conferences around the country. His work focuses on core strength; he does a lot of exercises on the Swiss ball, which promote such strength and focus. Balance, flexibility and general overall physical conditioning are his goals, though he also offers focused attention for specific issues, such as golfing challenges. In 2006 he opened an excellent private training facility; it is his own space, configured in a way that is most conducive to the one-on-one attention he gives each of his clients. It is also conveniently located near the Fort Lauderdale beach and has reserved parking. He does not use the machines at our gym, preferring the challenges that come from free weights, balance enhancement, and core strengthening.
Dan is also a very pleasant training coach and companion: he’s a counselor and sympathetic listener but he is also prepared to be a tough taskmaster – which, for me, has been important. He is timely, reliable, and honest. In sum, Dan Hellman is an extremely impressive professional package of expertise, thoughtfulness, and skill. He has my unqualified recommendation.

I have always worked out and I have always stayed in pretty good shape, so I didn't think I needed a trainer. I started working out with Leila because I saw a dramatic change in my friend who trained with her. My friend was suddenly energetic, quickly losing weight and just had this amazing glow about her. I started working out with her several months ago as I wanted to get more toned and fit, while living a busy lifestyle. I am very happy to have found a personal trainer who is an all-round coach and doesn't stop at the one hour workout. She has given me great advice on nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle.

Finally, a personal trainer who knows the true meaning of both words: personal and trainer. If you have ever, ever, wanted to not only get in the best shape of your life but become the healthiest person you know, then you have come to the right person. A perfect example is how she helped me discovered my allergic reaction to gluten and how such was affecting my energy levels; thus, inhibiting the ability for successful workouts. She was able to discover this through her constant study of nutrition and physical exercise. If you are looking for the typical trainer who rushes you through workouts and tells you to eat lots of protein then you have come to the wrong place. Exceptional trainer! Leila is knowledgeable and passionate. She caters to the customer, developing a client specific program based on individual goals. It is obvious she is a student of her own teachings. She is constantly reviewing, researching and experimenting.
